911 Practice Phone does not collect, store, or share any personal information.
What the app does
The app lets young children practice dialing 9-1-1 and talking to a pretend operator. An adult instructor enters a location (place name, street, town) so the pretend operator can confirm it during practice.
Microphone and speech recognition
The app uses the microphone so the pretend operator can respond to what the child says. Speech is recognized entirely on the device using the phone’s built-in speech recognition. Audio is never recorded, never saved, and never sent to us or to anyone else. On iOS, the app requires on-device recognition; on Android, it requires the offline speech recognition language pack and will not start a call without it.
No network access
The app does not connect to the internet. It contains no networking code and no third-party SDK that could send anything; on Android the release build does not even request network permission. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking, and there is no link that leads out of the app.
Data stored on the device
The only stored data is the instructor’s settings: the location entered for the session, the chosen scenario, and two on/off preferences. They stay on the device, are removed when the app is uninstalled, and are never sent to us. On Android they are excluded from cloud backup and device transfer. On iPhone, they are included in your device’s own iCloud or computer backup, like other app settings, which stays under your control and never reaches us.
What the child said during a practice call is shown to the instructor on a summary screen after the call and is discarded when that screen is closed. It is never written to storage.
Children’s privacy
The app is designed for children ages 5 and under, used together with an adult. Because no personal information is collected, no parental consent is required under COPPA or similar laws. Instructor settings and the call summary are behind a parental gate — an arithmetic question written out in words — so a young child cannot reach them.
